The Saturday 7

1. We had a low-key father's day. Justin got breakfast in bed as per tradition. We went to church, out for lunch in an actual restaurant (!), then Justin and the kids went to a nearby lake with his dad while I spent a solid hour doing dishes. Yay! The dishwasher situation is more dismal than expected. There's something fishy with the electrical, so it's not a cut and dried "take one out, put another one in" deal. Of course. Oy. But look at these cuties trying to figure it out: 2. As I've probably mentioned, Justin and I are celebrating 15 years of wedded bliss this year. We don't have the money for a big trip, and then Covid made us doubt we'd be able to do anything at all, but Luke and Esther went on vacation (with Ruby) this week so I had the week off, and decided to carpe diem. (Even though our actual anniversary isn't until the end of July.) Justin was able to get the week off at the last minute, and my mom graciously agreed to watch our kids. ...

The "Saturday" 7

1. Last Sunday, everyone was finally available, and quarantine was lifted enough for us to finally have our first ever Family Easter Egg hunt. My parents didn't do the Easter Bunny or baskets with us growing up, so it has never been part of our Easter tradition. But now that my siblings and I all have kids (and grandkids!), we've decided to start a new-to-us tradition. Niki graciously bought 126 plastic eggs and enough candy/toys to go in all of them, then she and her kids filled and hid them in the backyard. After lunch, we let the kids loose to find as many as they could (but not more than 21 each #fair). It was so much fun! Have I mentioned that this gang is growing in October?
