The Saturday 7

1. We didn't have school on Monday for Winter Break, so we did something winter-y and went sledding. It was actually perfect sledding weather - enough snow to be fun, but warm and sunny enough not to be freezing. The snow melted a couple days later, so it was good that we had our fun while we had the chance - and by "we" I mean Lena and Levi. Lucy wouldn't dare, and I'm too old and fragile. We went with Cousin Esther and her kids to a park in Ravenna that my kids have never been to. The kids lasted almost two hours, so I'd say it was a success! Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pictures. 2. The sledding was a good distraction for us because I cracked down on screen time starting on Monday. I figured out how to turn off the Wi-Fi for specific devices from the T-Mobile app on my phone. So the kids had zero Internet. Levi went back to listening to audiobooks, Lucy never left her room, and Lena flitted around doing this and that. A while ago Lena found some

Oops, I forgot to post last week. I'll try to make up for it this week. 1. Honestly, it's probably for the best that I don't blog every week in February, because February is the worst and I'm ornery. I inevitably spend a couple weeks coughing, and at least one of my kids inevitably gets terribly sick. For the past two years it's been Levi - always right around Valentine's Day. Last week, Levi came down with a weird virus that caused high fevers and body aches. He had no appetite, puked when he did  eat, and laid on the couch for days. The weirdest thing, though, was how it came and went. For two days he was miserable, then his fever would go away and he'd be back to normal for a few days, then it'd come back and he'd be down for three more days. He ended up missing a bunch of school, and I actually had to take two days off of work at Once Upon to stay home with him. I have intense  guilt about the situation, but keep telling myself that I literally h

1. Back to reality. After a glorious week of vacation, I woke up Sunday with a cough that got progressively worse all week. 🤦It wasn't too bad at the beginning of the week, so I went to work as usual. It was Spirit Week at school and I was excited to be working on Crazy Hair Day so I could resurrect this gem: My library kids loved  it and were so amazed by it. Haha. The kindergarteners asked if it was my real hair and if they could touch it. Lol.  Lena came up with this idea to have spider hair: Levi used hair chalk and made himself this colorful crown: 2. I worked at Once Upon Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday was fine, but Wednesday was rough. My cough had really started getting bad and I was feeling so miserable. That night, I couldn't sleep at all. I finally got a couple hours on the couch around 2:00 a.m., but I knew I wouldn't make it through a day at school, so I called in sick. Then I went to the doctor so they could write me a prescription for cough medicine with cod
