The Saturday 7

1. This week Justin worked out of town Monday through Friday. He had to work 10 hour days, but then he got to go back to a hotel room all by himself, watch what he wanted on TV with no interruptions, and go out to eat for every meal. I was so jealous.  2. In his absence, we stayed busy as usual. I decided to surprise him by doing some yardwork. My housekeeping skills are strictly indoors. I have never mowed the lawn. I do not garden or landscape or hang baskets of flowers on my front porch (mostly because I don't have a front porch). So it was a pretty big deal that I took it upon myself to pull the weeds out of our driveway and rake ankle-deep leaves that have been sitting between the driveway and the house for a year. Of course it was wicked hot all week, so we just did it in short bursts in the morning and evening when it was cooler. Levi helped me rake and fill leaf bags. And the girls pulled tons of weeds. I, of course, have been sore for days and remembered why I stay inside....

1. We did it! We survived another year of Soccer Camp! It was a family affair again this year. I'm on the planning committee, Justin was a coach, Lucy worked in the nursery, Lena worked with the kindergarteners, and Levi participated as a camper. Theoretically, most of my work is done before camp actually starts, since I'm in charge of marketing, graphics, some parts of registration, and getting snack and concessions up and running. But there are always fires to put out, last minute changes to accommodate, and endless ways to help with all the moving parts that make up such a large event. It was a record breaking year for us, as we averaged 200 campers each night!  2. I love soccer camp week even if it is exhausting and chaotic. I didn't make dinner once all week (except for the meatball subs I prepared for the set-up crew . . . although I'm not sure pre-made meatballs and a jar of spaghetti sauce count as "making dinner"). I threw loads of laundry into the ma...

Whoops! I didn't post last week. We were out partying for 4th of July too late and I had to go to bed instead of writing my blog. #partyanimal 1. Summer continues to fly by. The fireworks tent fundraiser wrapped up without incident last week, and this week has been heavy on the soccer camp prep, since camp starts on Monday! I have roughly 450 to-do lists going at all times, but after soccer camp ends, I'll have like a two week window where I just get to enjoy summer, before I have to really get going on stuff for school. I'm going to get a tan and read all the books. Wish me luck. šŸ˜‚ 2. I had to help in the fireworks tent for one shift that no one else signed up for. Conveniently enough, the tent is within walking distance of Goodwill, so after my shift I decided to pop over and see if anything was calling my name. Imagine my surprise/thrill when I found four  brand new Crunch Labs kits marked $3.99 each! In case you don't have kids that watch YouTube . . . Crunch Labs...
