The Saturday 7

1. Tuesday has become my "errands day" since both girls are at school. This week, Levi and I shopped for 5 straight hours. I got some awesome deals on Christmas presents at the Thrifty Outlet, got some 25c books at the World Mission 50% off sale (people were lined up out the door when I got there - apparently it's a big deal!), picked up some online orders, returned some stuff, and got a few groceries. It's amazing how much I get done with only one kid. Haha. I also spent way too much time (and money) searching out Cyber Monday deals the day before. Between my two days of shopping, I think it's safe to say I'm 98% done with my Christmas shopping. I just have to get a couple teacher gifts and some stocking stuffers. Woohoo!

2. I also started organizing and wrapping presents this week. Every time I get something I chuck it in my closet. So I finally sorted through and counted everything. Last year, I spent the same amount on the girls within like 50 cents. This year, I spent $20 more on Lucy than Lena, but Lena is getting one more present than Lucy. (#evensteven) And Levi is just getting random stuff that didn't cost very much. Haha.

3. We kicked off our Advent countdown yesterday! I think I've been doing this with my kids for 6ish years. Thank goodness for Pinterest and its plethora of ideas. We have all kinds of fun stuff planned for this month. So far we've unwrapped a "first day of Advent present" (this Odyssey Christmas collection) and hosted a birthday party for Jesus!

4. This is the 7th year we've celebrated Jesus' birthday with our friends. Every year, it gets a little less elaborate. Haha. Today, I actually finished making the food about 10 minutes before everyone arrived and left my sink overflowing with dishes. That's true friendship right there. I'm so over trying to impress my friends. ;-) But I love planning the party and having everyone over to celebrate. This year, I put the girls in charge of the decorations. They were in their glories.
Levi helped too . . .
We had lots of yummy food (including these cinnamon roll muffins and delicious potatoes), I made up a silly activity that helped reiterate the Christmas story, we did an easy Oriental Trading craft, sang Happy Birthday and blew out the candles on cupcakes, and had a blast playing together. All the marks of a successful birthday party!
I enlisted the help of the parents in acting out parts of the story. Here's Bob as Caesar.

Eating cupcakes and watching Kelly's magic trick. Man, my photography skills are on point! (sarcasm)

5. I've taken a little break from Christian fiction. Sometimes I get sick of the same plot lines over and over and feel the need to branch out. This week I read I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. (Can we all just agree from this point on that if I link something to Amazon, it's an affiliate link? Do I really have to remind you every time?) It was surprisingly clean and I liked the storyline. It was, at times, a bit over the top and cringe-worthy, but was worth it in the end. It'd make a cute movie, I think. Does anyone else feel like there aren't ever any good chick flicks anymore? Everything is rated R, full of profanity and nudity. I feel like PG-13 rom-coms are a thing of the past. Thank goodness for Netflix . . .

6. Actually, on Black Friday, I bought myself an early Christmas present: Big Bang Theory Season 10. Stupid CBS won't sell the rights to Netflix (or however that works) so I have to buy the DVDs every year to catch up. But it was so worth the $10 I paid. Justin and I started it last night when we were both exhausted, but ended up blowing through 3 episodes and forcing ourselves to turn it off at 11:00 at night. I forgot how much I love that show.

7. I only took one picture this week that I haven't already shared! So I'll leave you with this:
