The Saturday 7 - on a Sunday

Oops. I forgot yesterday was Saturday.

1. We made it to Christmas break! I worked feverishly to finish all of my Development responsibilities on Wednesday so I could take Thursday off. I was nervous that my kids would have a snow day on Friday (my day off) and I really needed a solid day to finish my shopping and wrapping without them at home. They ended up not having a snow day on Friday, which was fortunate, because I actually needed two days to get everything done. Haha. Everything just takes so long! But now I have almost all the presents wrapped, the groceries bought, the meal plans made, and the stocking stuffers purchased. Bring on Christmas!

2. On Tuesday, I went to Levi's class party, but I only stayed for like 15 minutes because it was chaos and he's so obnoxious that I decided to go back to work and get stuff done. Lol. #honesty

3. I bought Justin a fishing lure advent calendar this year. I've done it in the past - from the company "Mystery Tackle Box," which I know Justin likes. I'm pretty sure I got it on Amazon before, but this year I found a better deal on a different website.
Looks legit, right?

Darn you, Temu! Scammed again! There were lures in it, but Justin said it was probably only $20 worth. Good thing I only spent $11!

4. Every year, I buy the kids Christmas ornaments that represent that year. I got Lucy a walking boot ornament to commemorate her broken foot, and I had a pretty one made on Etsy to remember this was the year Lena got baptized. And then there's Levi's . . .

5. On Friday night, we had our annual viewing of Elf, followed by a new-to-us movie: Journey to Bethlehem. It was a musical, and I actually really liked it! I love cheesy songs. (#addtoplaylist) And on Saturday, we spent the day with cousins - first a birthday party for Jesus, then cookie decorating.
Reading the Christmas story . . . and a little preaching (my message was actually quite similar to the one our Pastor gave this morning - regarding the drastic difference between Heaven and earth and everything Jesus willingly gave up because he loves us so much.)

I made up a relay race for the kids to play. Part of it involved "swaddling" Baby Jesus (in toilet paper) and placing him in the manger.

Bingo!

It's not a birthday party without cupcakes and candles!

On to cookies . . .

It was loud and chaotic and messy, but also filled with love and laughter. That night my friend Kelly posted this on facebook, and I immediately sent it to my sisters saying, "These are the memories we're making for our kids." So worth it.

6. I read two books this week. The first one was very creepy, but clean (The Other Sister by Jessica R. Patch). The second one was less clean and incredibly stupid (Parlor Games by Maryka Biaagio). I'm so mad I wasted hours of my life on it. I also DNF-ed a book this week, which I almost never do! (DNF = Did Not Finish) I won't share the title because of spoilers, but it was marketed as a romantic comedy - right down to the cutesy illustrated cover. It was soooo boring, and the romance was dumb. I finally decided to give up at the halfway point, and got on Goodreads to see if other people felt the same way I did. It turns out that the leading male character had cancer, and he died at the end!! I would've been furious if I actually read the whole thing! I read for pleasure and escapism, not death and reality. Don't try and pull a Nicholas Sparks on me!

7. All memes. No pics this week.

This is my beef with therapy.

Yes!! 100%!

This one made me laugh out loud.
