The Saturday 7

1. It was really cold this week. Like highs in the teens cold. I realized that I'm going to save on gas this winter, because I abhor the cold - especially when I have to get 2 kids in and out of the van. And especially when said van's heat doesn't work. Grrr. I see cabin fever in my future . . .

2. I don't know why I bother putting my planned Christmas activities in a specific order on the advent calendar, because they always change. I'm glad Lucy can't read yet, because I pretend the calendar says something different than it actually says every day. Haha. Here's what we did this week: we forgot to do anything on Sunday, so on Monday we made 2 different ornaments. Scrabble ornaments:
We couldn't find 2 m's, so "mom" is actually "wow." Haha.
And a cupcake ornament in honor of Jesus' birthday:
I cut a squiggly line out of blue painter's tape and wrapped it around a clear glass ornament, let Lucy paint Elmer's glue above the tape, then go to town with the glitter. We used hot glue for the cherry on top and to get the ornament in the cupcake wrapper.

3. On Tuesday, we made dinner and a snack for Aunt Libby who is having finals this week. Lucy loves helping me in the kitchen. I hope she'll always be so interested and will actually stand a chance at being able to cook when she leaves the house. When I got married, I had to call my sister to ask her how to brown ground beef and cook chicken. Lucy already knows how to make macaroni and cheese by herself, so she's off to a good start. :-)

4. We also checked out Christmas books from the library, bought Lena a Christmas present (an adorable baby doll), and went to the Live Nativity at church. Today, we're going to attempt these:
Those top hats and scarves might stretch my craftiness limits. We'll see. Haha.
5. I tried to cut out one of Lena's feedings this week. She wasn't a fan, and I immediately got a ginormous clog. I never had the physical difficulties with Lucy that I've had with Lena. I still crack and bleed sometimes, and get clogged at least once a month. I weaned Lucy with no problem. By 11 months, Lucy was only nursing in the morning and at night. Lena will be 11 months in 9 days and still nurses 4 times a day and once or twice at night. So basically, I might be nursing her til she's 4. Which would be ok, because then I don't have to go on a diet. I decided that I either need to breastfeed forever or get pregnant again because as soon as I stop breastfeeding I'm going to gain a quick 20 pounds thanks to my atrocious eating habits and sedentary lifestyle.

6. I'm thinking about chopping my hair and attempting to make it look like this:
But I have no skills, so I'll probably end up looking like this:

  1. I love the scrabble ornaments! Every time I see scrabble tile stuff I think of you.

I like that hairstyle. Is your hair thick? The girl in the picture looks like she might have fine hair.
