The Saturday 7ish

1. I finally finished the book I've been talking about for weeks: Home With God  by Kyle Worley. I picked it up because I've been curious about the topic of union with Christ. The New Testament is saturated with that phrase, but I've never really understood it. Honestly, I could probably re-read the book again immediately and continue to deepen my understanding, because it still feels hard to grasp. But overall, I was extremely impressed. I realized recently that my rating system for nonfiction books is quite different than for fiction. With fiction, it's all about how the book makes me feel. With nonfiction, it's about learning new information in a format that is understandable. I feel like Home With God  earned 5 stars because it did both so well.  The main premise of the book is that God designed us to live in his presence. He was with  Adam and Eve in the garden. Their sin disrupted that, and now, as children of Adam, we all experience that longing for the Home ...

1. Lena started Middle School soccer at school this week. She's the tiniest one on the team and I'm somewhat terrified she's going to get snapped like a twig. She had her sports physical on Wednesday and weighed in at a whopping 62 pounds! But she's loving the game, and I'm looking forward to watching her play . . . even if I'm dreading the amount of travel required for the games. It's going to be brutal. A lot of the games are an hour away, and I hate being in the car that long. Not to mention, most of her games are at 4:30, so I'm going to have to drive her myself instead of relying on Justin to be the navigator since he actually has to work and make money and everything. Plus, we're idiots who also signed Levi up to play rec soccer. Now that he's U10, they also travel for games and I'm pretty sure he'll have two practices instead of one now (haven't gotten the schedule yet). The next couple of months are going to be bonkers. 2. 1. Last weekend, I took Levi out on a mother/son date for his birthday. He chose McDonald's and a movie (Paddington in Peru).  He loves the one and one time, and chatted my ear off the whole night. Haha. After the movie, we went to Target because he made out like a bandit on his birthday and he wanted to spend some of his cash. He's getting to the age that he's hard to buy for, so most of the people who usually buy him a gift gave him money instead. All he ended up with at Target was a stuffed animal because he wants to save most of his money for a bigger item. I seriously don't understand his obsession with stuffed animals. He gets so excited to see it in the store, sleeps with it for one night, then puts it on his shelf and never touches it again. šŸ¤· He had fun browsing, though. After he picked out his toy, I said, "Ok, are you ready to go?" and he said, "No. I like shopping. I just want to look at everything." Haha.  2. We had some beautiful sprin...

1. Good news, everyone!! February is over!! We did it. We survived the worst month. Now, not to be a Debbie Downer, but I have bad news for you . . . March is the 2nd worse month. So much false hope. So much playing with my emotions. But there are 50s in the ten day forecast, so I'm holding on to hope. 2. Lucy had her follow up with the pediatric orthopedist on Wednesday and was given a clean bill of health. Her foot has healed and she was given the go-ahead to remove the boot she's been wearing for a month. However, the doctor cautioned her to be careful, and suggested that she should avoid gym class for another 10ish days. If you know Lucy, you know that decision made her day. Lol. When she gave the doctor's note to her P.E. teacher, the teacher said, "Could you at least pretend you're upset about this?" Lol. Lucy couldn't stop smiling. #theappledoesntfallfar 3. Justin and I completed our second month of budgeting with YNAB. At first, I didn't unders...
