The Saturday 7 - it's a long one!

Sorry about the spacing and font issues. I copied and pasted a lot. :-) 1. I made a cute flower craft with the girls this week.  Picture from  tonyastaab.typepad.com   It was super easy. We got some foam flower shapes from Dollar N' More for $1. Lyla traced the flowers onto scrapbook paper and I cut them out. Then she traced a cup to get the circle and I cut that out. Lucy glued the circle on the flower. I jabbed a hole in the middle and Lyla put the straw through it. Good times. :-) 2. Here's another recipe from plainchicken I made this week: Picture from plainchicken.com  Beer Crust Pizza!! In case you haven't noticed, I've been on a major beer bread kick lately. Haha. Last week, I had half a can of beer left as well as a bunch of pizza fixings. I wondered to myself it it was possible to make pizza crust with beer instead of yeast, but Justin drank the beer before I could figure it out. Later that week I came across this recipe on my new favorite blo...

The Saturday 7

I feel like I have a lot to write about today! Be forewarned, this is going to be long. 1. Let's start with Lucy's new words of the week: owie, bowl, and duck (it sounds identical to "dog") 2. Here's a mom of the year story. I buy deli turkey every week when we go grocery shopping. We always have to wait forever at the deli counter, so I try to entertain Lucy. I inevitably end up saying, "We're getting some turkey. What does the turkey say?" And then we gobble together. Well this week, I was eating a turkey sandwich and she really wanted it. I broke off a piece of bread to give her, but she shook her head and said, "Gobble gobble gobble!" Lol. She thinks turkey meat  is called "gobble gobble gobble." Oops! 3. Last Saturday, Justin and I went to Olive Garden with my long lost friend Carissa. We were best friends in high school, and roommates our first year of college, but we don't see each other very much anymore. Anyway,...

Initial Thoughts on "Radical'

Well, I'm part way through chapter 3 of Radical   and my fears are already being realized. I hate it!! Listen to this: We already have a fairly high view of our morality, so when we add a superstitious prayer, a subsequent dose of church attendance, and obedience to some of the Bible, we feel pretty sure that we will be all right in the end. (pg. 32) Uhh, yeah, that pretty sums up my religious experience. So imagine my horror when Platt follows it up a few pages later with the verse in Matthew where Jesus says, "Not everyone who cries Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven," (my own paraphrase) and says, Jesus was not speaking here to irreligious people, atheists, or agnostics. He was not speaking to pagans or heretics. He was speaking to devoutly religious people who were deluded into thinking they were on the narrow road that leads to heaven when they were actually on the broad road that leads to hell. According to Jesus, one day not just a few but many wil...
