The Saturday 7

1. My dad helped me plant a garden earlier this year. I'm a terrible gardener and have not tended it very often. Especially because it's been so hot, I just can't bring myself to sit in the baking sun and weed. The poor garden was lucky if it got watered occasionally during our dry spell. Anyway, my potatoes have been ready to be harvested for probably a month, and I kept putting it off. One night this week, I was sitting in the air conditioned house watching TV, when Justin came in and said, "I dug up your potatoes. Where do you want them?" Woohoo! We actually got a pretty good haul despite my laziness. Also pictured - my very overripe zucchini and squash.  So now I need recipes. Or does anyone have any suggestions for freezing them?  2. I told Justin before the Olympics started, that I'm one of the rare few who doesn't get too excited about the big games. The only thing I really care about is gymnastics. But of course we've had it on al...

The Saturday 7

1. I planted some stuff in my garden this week! (With my dad's help.) Potatoes, strawberries, and flowers. Dad says we have to wait to plant the zucchini, melon, and squash. I loved digging my hands in the dirt. And Lucy has loved helping me water the garden. 2. Wednesday was a beautiful warm, sunny day. After dinner, Justin, Lucy and I went to Morley Park in Cedar. We've lived here for 3 years and have never been there. It was so nice! They had 3 or 4 different play structures, swings, a merry go round, even some bongo drums! Lucy was in her glories. Except that all the play structures are on sand and she was wearing sandals. She was not a fan. Haha. Note to self: next time, put her in tennis shoes. She found a set of little slides with a short set of steps. Justin and I sat on the grass and watched her go up the stairs, down the slide, up the stairs, down the slide . . . over and over and over. I can't wait for her to get a slide for her birthday! Hours of entertainment...

Our Internet is fixed, so I'm actually writing this from the comfort of my own home! Woohoo! 1. Justin ran his first 15k today. It's in Kent City, and the course actually went right by my parents' house, so Lucy and I went to cheer him on. He did so well! He got 2nd place in his age group! 2. Last Friday, Lucy fell off the non-moving treadmill and really hurt something. She's been limping ever since! I took her to the doctor on Monday. She felt her ankles, knees, hips, and everything in between and said nothing's broken or out of place. But yesterday and today she's been limping even worse than before! I can't decide if she's just being a faker or what! 3. My dad came over and tilled me a garden plot on Saturday! I've never been very interested in gardening because it seems kind of overwhelming, but suddenly I have the desire to do it! We'll see how thrilled I am when I have to weed it all the time. It's just a small plot, though. Hop...
