The Saturday 7: Speed Version

Image
Justin and I are about to start a movie (at 10:30! We're so young and hip!), but I dare not leave my loyal readers waiting. So here's the condensed 7. 1. The girls hosted a sleepover Sunday night. Not much sleep was had. They didn't fall asleep 'til 2:00 a.m.! But everyone had a blast. There was swimming and baking and crafting and giggling galore.  2. On Tuesday, the cousins crew headed to Millennium Park. I'd never been there before, and was impressed with the facilities. The beach is clean and large enough for people to spread out, and the splash pad was great. We could've stayed longer than we did, but had to hurry home for Levi's dr. appt.  These two would NOT look at the camera at the same time. 3. On Wednesday, we stayed home for some much needed rest, laundry, and cleaning. It was 90* but Lena got the idea in her head to make sugar cookies. I told her that I was not going to help her, thinking it'd deter her, but she forged ahead. And guess who h

Another exciting summer week! 1. I went blueberry picking for the first time ever. Actually, when I was a kid, my dad tried growing blueberries. They didn't take very well in our soil, so they didn't last long. But when I popped that first fresh-from-the-bush blueberry in my mouth this week, I was immediately transported to those old blueberry bushes at my parents' house. It's funny how senses can evoke memories. Anyway, I got desperately lost driving to the blueberry . . . patch? farm? Stinkin' Google Maps led me astray. But once we got there, we had a grand old time. Of course, we made it a cousins affair (minus Nash and Saylor who were camping).  After half an hour or so of picking, I asked Nova to show me her bucket. When I asked her why it was empty she said, "I ate them all." Lol The haul! I ended up with about 10 pounds. I froze the majority of them and now have to figure out what to do with them all! 2. On Wednesday we met up with Justin's gran

1. Wowza. What an insane week. First things first: soccer camp. This is the first time our church has ever hosted a soccer camp, so we were nervous that our months of planning wouldn't be enough. I wouldn't say it went off without a hitch, but all things considered it went very smoothly. And we've gotten a lot of positive feedback, so hopefully that's a good sign!  The weather forecast was disheartening all week. Every day called for rain - and I'm pretty sure it did rain every day . . . right up until soccer camp started. One evening, we were driving to church in the pouring rain, my windshield wipers going as fast as they could, and I started to pray aloud over the sound of rain slamming my van's roof. Minutes later, we drove out of the rain, and the sun was shining by the time we got to church! In all honesty, we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was cloudy and breezy most of the week which meant no one was sweltering or getting heat stroke!  The
