Adventures in La La Land

Insane day. I've got 57 minutes to get this up and still legitimately call it The Saturday 7. Time to get crack-a-lackin'. 1. We had a heat wave this week. I missed our old house and its central AC a little bit. Haha. But I sure did enjoy having a pool in our backyard! 2. Lucy and I worked on the letter P this week. I did a few activities intentionally focused on P, but as you'll see, much of our week involved the letter P! On Monday, we hosted a P ool P arty. It wasn't much of a party. I just invited some of Lucy's friends over to swim. No games or activities or anything. Just the pool and some snacks. I've decided to change the name of these Saturday "quick takes," because - let's face it - there's never anything quick about them!  They shall henceforth be referred to as "The Saturday 7." 1. We had a crazy ice storm this week.  Just when we were starting to think winter was on its way out, it blasted us with one last (hopefully!) storm.  Everything was covered in ice for days.  Even though the sun has been out for the past two days, the trees are still coated! Thanks to my amazing sister, even before Lucy was born, we had a huge stockpile of diapers and wipes.  We added to the diaper stash a few months after she was born, but there haven't been many good deals since then, so we've just been living off what we have.  We just ran out this week!  That stash lasted us almost a year!  I finally broke down and bought some wipes on Monday.  Thankfully there's a semi-good deal on diapers at Ri...

Thank you for all the interest and comments on my prayer post.  I got a few facebook messages, too.  I'm hoping to write an entry soon about what I learned. Now for the quick takes. (I had fun with the pictures since I'm using a fast internet connection.) 1. I felt bad after posting on facebook that I randomly lost 3 pounds this week . I don't want people to think I'm bragging. So here's a little consolation: my stomach is still a wrinkly, flabby, elephant-butt mess! You will not see me in a bikini this summer! 2. My blonde moment of the week : Our garage door has some major problems.  It gets stuck while it's opening/closing, so we usually have to push the button a few times to get it to go all the way.  One day this week, Lucy and I were headed to the grocery store.  I pushed the button and it started to go up, but then got stuck.  I put Lucy in the van, climbed in, and pushed the button in my van.  When I looked in my rearview mirror, I could s...

1. Valentine's Day - I am not one of those people who writes this day off as a "Hallmark Holiday," but neither do we go all out in celebration of it.  Mostly just because we're broke.  Anyway, this year, Justin made me dinner: steak, twice baked potatoes, and maple glazed carrots!  He got out the cookbook and everything!  It was muy delicioso! We ate by candle light after Lucy went to bed to make it oh so romantic. ;-)  Oh, and our gift to each other was a new antenna to go on the roof that is supposed to help us get more than 2 TV channels!  Woohoo!  Lucy got hair clips and yogurt melts. :-)   2. On Tuesday, we went to Kohl's to take advantage of their Valentine's Day markdowns and my sister's 30% off coupon.  I want to be one of those moms who goes all out for holidays with decorations and crafts and the like. :-)  This year Lucy didn't really care, but next year we're going to deck out the house!  So we got some decorations ...

Thank you for all your input on my "eating" entry below. I definitely appreciate it! Now, on to the quick takes: 1. Justin and I enjoyed a snow day on Wednesday thanks to the much anticipated "Blizzard of 2011."  It was like a Saturday in the middle of the week!  Lucy was up at 7:30, so there wasn't much sleeping in, but we enjoyed cinnamon rolls, then snuggled on the couch watching "The Blindside" when she went down for her nap.  There was hot chocolate, cleaning, and tromping through the 18 inches we reportedly got to take pictures of the snow. 2. We are getting our "new" fridge today.  I am so excited!!! We have been living without a fridge for 12 days and it is such a pain! For a while, we had things out on the deck, but with the aforementioned blizzard we moved everything to the garage so it wouldn't get covered in snow.  It works for some things - the cheese stayed cold, the condiments are fine.  But anything liquid just froze -...

I found something in the settings called "advanced editor" or something like that.  It's supposed to make inserting images easier.  Let's see! Ooh, this has an "add caption" option. So that worked pretty well.  Let's try picture number 2: Woohoo!  Oh, these are just random pictures from my photobucket account so I don't have to upload new pics on our dial up connection. Well, now that I've figured out the pictures, I think I might be ready to commit to this new blog.  It's a little sad to leave all my old posts, though.  Is there any way to bring them over here?
