The Saturday 7

1. I'm really over this "shelter at home" thing. And no, this isn't a political opinion, it's purely an emotional one. I looked back and did the math. It's been 6 weeks since the girls had school, almost 5 weeks since we've been "sheltering at home" and Justin has been off work, and this week the governor tacked on 3 more weeks to our never-ending quarantine. Sadly, this newest order extends into Lucy's birthday. I never would've guessed we'd still be doing this in May when it started in the middle of March. But here we are. I've been trying to think of something fun we can do for Lucy's birthday. I've seen lots of people posting about "drive-by" birthday wishes/honks/signs, but that would absolutely mortify  Lucy. And my mom had a fun idea of doing "10 things for your 10th birthday" - where for 10 days leading up to her birthday people could drop off "10 things." Like 10 pieces of gum,

To all of my adoring fans: I am so sorry for the reprehensible delay. I forgot it was Saturday. 🤦 #thatquarantinelife 1. Our Easter went better than expected. Try as we might to keep Easter about Jesus, it becomes about pretty dresses and family gatherings and of course the stupid Easter eggs. And I think I rely too much on church to raise my emotions. I want powerful songs and loud voices. It's good for me to remember that Jesus still rose even if I'm not surrounded by 500 other people singing about it. Haha. 2. And of course we didn't throw all the traditions out the window. The kids got Easter baskets: I made my first Easter dinner: It was actually really good! We even did an Easter egg hunt: The girls did put on their pretty dresses 3. The rest of the week was pretty "blah." It was

Just another week . . . in quarantine (you have to sing that phrase to " Just Another Day in Paradise " by Phil Vassar). 1. Thanks again for all the love, kind words, and prayers regarding my breakdown last week. This week was much better. I wish I could pinpoint what makes the difference. Maybe it all just builds, explodes, then goes back to slowly building again? We did have beautiful weather most of the week, and I'm noticing that makes a big difference in my mental state. Regardless of whether or not I personally even spend time outside, having that extra play-space for my kids to burn off some energy is huge. 2. On Tuesday, Justin's dad dropped off our old basketball hoop. (We had it at our old house, but it's been sitting at Justin's parents' house for 7 years. Ha!) It was a gorgeous day (warm enough that I actually broke out the shorts!), and we all had a blast shooting hoops. I was amazed that even Lucy got in on the action! I was
