The Saturday 7

1. I've been feeling guilty that I haven't cooked much lately. It's discouraging to even try when my kids literally don't eat a single thing I make and when groceries are so stinkin' expensive. But I need to make more of an effort for Justin's sake. Sick of my usual rut, I tried out three new recipes this week. They were all fine, but nothing wonderful (title of my memoir). Garlic Ranch Baked Chicken Thighs , Asian Chicken Wraps with Peanut Sauce , and . . . BBQ bacon meatloaf , garlic mashed potatoes, and air fryer Brussels sprouts .  2. I've experienced similar dissatisfaction in my reading life lately. I've read 34 books so far this year, but not a single one has been a five star read. Everything is just the same, so predictable, only marginally entertaining. I've even DNF-ed a few, which is very unlike me. (That's "did not finish" for you non-voracious-readers.) Reading is pretty much my only hobby, so I'm annoyed that it's

I have a lot to share this week! 1. A few weeks ago, a lady from church posted this video to our private "Women's Ministry" facebook group with the caption, "should we?" It was quickly deemed that we indeed should . Someone picked a shirt, shared the link, and the women of our rural church wiped out Old Navy's selection. 😂 We decided on Easter Sunday for the big reveal, since that was a day we'd be more likely to convince our husbands to wear something specific. For my part, I was a little nervous about convincing Justin because he's picky about clothes. But it was a shirt that I knew he'd like, and Levi had a matching one so I told him I wanted to match for Easter and he went with it. I seriously had to bite my cheeks the whole way to church to stop from spontaneously smiling at what was to come. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we saw two men wearing the same shirt pointing and laughing at each other. Justin said, "Oh no" t

1. I had a miserable week. Last weekend, I thought we were all on the road to recovery from our colds. Apparently that was true for everyone but me. I'm not sure if this is a well documented fact about me, but I have an issue with coughing. If I get a cough, it clings for dear life until it has long outlived its welcome. I have had this problem multiple times and always dread that first throat tickle. Suffice it to say, the dread was well-deserved this week. I was up all night on Saturday, coughed all day on Sunday, got myself some Delsym and cough drops and figured I'd be fine by Monday for work. Oh ye of unfounded optimism . . . After I inhaled 7 cough drops in two hours, had to leave the classroom I was aiding in twice for major coughing fits, and had to let my library class listen to a Youtube rendition of the book I was reading them because I couldn't open my mouth without coughing, I called it and went home. I hate  inconveniencing people, and I hate  leaving work for

The Saturday 7: The Lamest Spring Break that Ever Was Edition

1. We had a very disappointing Spring Break. The weather was absolutely abysmal (isn't abysmal a great word?) and then we all came down with nasty colds so we didn't feel like we could go places or do things lest people think we were spreading Covid all over the place. We did get to see a bunch of cousins since I did some babysitting for my sisters/niece. I was going to take the kids to see a movie on Wednesday, but there wasn't a single kids' movie playing that day! Worst spring break ever.  2. So we spent the week sleeping in, watching a lot of TV (Levi's on a "How to Train Your Dragon" kick), and doing puzzles. I bought a combo pack of 6 puzzles when I went thrifting last weekend. We got almost all of them done this week.  The 6th one is currently in progress. I took this pic before we started it. 3. We also played games, did crafts, and even re-organized the linen closet. Nashy and his concentrating face 😋 I threw away so much expired medication - the
