The Saturday 7

1. We had awful weather this week. Temps in the teens and single digits. Snow. The whole awful gamut. Lucy had a snow day on Monday thanks to this: I put the girls to work since they were home and bored. Levi's a freeloader, but he's cute! I did have to bring Lucy to school the rest of the week, despite this: 2. On Tuesday I finally went to the doctor. This stupid cold is just not getting better and I feel like it's really settled into my chest. Sure enough: sinus infection and bronchitis. Blech. I've been on an antibiotic and steroids since then, but still don't feel like I'm making much progress. My cough is less intense, but it's still rattly and phlegmy. The girls are both still hacking, but Levi seems to be on the upswing, and Justin still hasn't gotten it. Oh the joys of winter! 3. Some of our fun Advent activities this week included setting the table with snowman plates for dinner: And decorating cookies: I didn't reali...

1. I read a couple books this week. I don't know what got into me! One was The Bookshop on the Corner  by Jenny Colgan. It was recommended on the Modern Mrs. Darcy blog and sounded like something I would enjoy, so I placed it on hold at the library. It was cute and a fun read. Perfect for sitting in front of the Christmas tree with a cup of coffee. The second book was back to my good old inspirational fiction: Lady of Milkweed Manor . It was kind of heart-wrenching. I actually put the book down at one point because I didn't think I could read it. But then I had to see what happened, so I flipped past a few pages, skipping over the part where she has to give up her newborn. It was set in the 1800s and had a lot to do with wet nurses - something I've heard of, but haven't read much about. It was very interesting. But I wasn't thrilled with the ending. 2. We did a few fun Advent activities this week. We went to Five Below as a family on Tuesday so the girls coul...

Levi: 9 Months

Image
I'm pretty sure I get later and later with these entries every month. Haha. Here's what the cutie patootie is up to this month: Those constantly kicking legs . . . And one with the bear . . . and horrible lighting . . . He's been doing all kinds of fun new things lately. He loves to point: He also loves to stick his finger in the holes in his binky - while it's in his mouth. Haha.  He blows raspberries (and drools all over himself), claps his hands, claps his feet, plays peek-a-boo, and is still really trying to figure out the wave. He also plays the "night night" game: he lays his head down and we say, "Nigh night." Then he lifts his head up really quickly and grins as we say, "Wake up!" He still kicks everything. It's a quirk he's had pretty much as long as he's been alive. Every time I hand him something, he puts it down to his feet and kicks it away. Even if it's a sweet little chick . . . I...

1. Last week, immediately after posting my entry about discovering Levi's first tooth, I discovered his second! Haha. Bottom right. (He's sleeping right now. We'll see if he wakes up with a third after I finish this entry. That seems to be the pattern.) As I've posted before, the girls were much older when they got teeth. I stopped nursing each of them at one year, so teeth were never a problem. Let me tell you . . . they're a problem with Levi. I don't know what to do about the biting. I tap his cheek and pull him off, saying "no" sternly. But he seriously laughs at me. Ouch. I'm not sure I'll make it to a year with him if this keeps up. Although he still won't take a bottle or cup of any kind, so I might not have much of a choice . . . 2. We got our Christmas tree on Sunday. As we've done the past few years, we joined my sisters at the tree farm, went on a wagon ride and chopped down our tree. It was a beautiful day, the girl...
