The Saturday 7
1. Last weekend, I took Levi out on a mother/son date for his birthday. He chose McDonald's and a movie (Paddington in Peru).
He loves the one and one time, and chatted my ear off the whole night. Haha. After the movie, we went to Target because he made out like a bandit on his birthday and he wanted to spend some of his cash. He's getting to the age that he's hard to buy for, so most of the people who usually buy him a gift gave him money instead. All he ended up with at Target was a stuffed animal because he wants to save most of his money for a bigger item. I seriously don't understand his obsession with stuffed animals. He gets so excited to see it in the store, sleeps with it for one night, then puts it on his shelf and never touches it again. 🤷 He had fun browsing, though. After he picked out his toy, I said, "Ok, are you ready to go?" and he said, "No. I like shopping. I just want to look at everything." Haha.
2. We had some beautiful spring weather this week, and my Michigan kids made the most of it.

Reading on the roof. |
Yesterday and today it was actually in the 70s!! I tried to soak it up as much as I could, because it's not going to last. It's just the cruel hope March teases me with.
3. I read a couple books last week: The Song of Sourwood Mountain by Ann Gabhart (meh) and Across the Ages by Gabrielle Meyer. The latter is part of the Timeless series that I've written about before. It's book 4, but they never get old. I recommend this series to everyone who wants Christian fiction that isn't the same ol' same ol'. I'm also still working through the Home with God book. I actually bought it so I can have it in my hands, and I'm really enjoying it.
4. I grounded myself from social media and phone games last week. My depression has been so bad, and I know phone-time doesn't help. I think it helped a little bit to be free of it. Although, it's annoying not being on facebook because I miss stuff. It's convicting every time I do a mini-fast like this, because I don't know what to do with myself if I don't have my phone in front of my face. I honestly went to bed early most nights because there was nothing else to do. Haha.
5. Fortunately, I kept busy most of the week. I had a bunch of computer work to do for all my various amateur graphic design projects. I spent seven solid hours working in the church library on Wednesday. And on Friday I drove to school and back five separate times. Lol. Once to drop the kids off, once for a meeting, once to take pictures of an event and then pick the kids up, once to take pictures of the high school drama cast before their performance (and drop Lena off to watch the play), and once more to pick Lena up! I probably should've just stayed there all day, but I had stuff to do in between! Haha.
6. The main thing I did yesterday was start yet another library-related activity: storytime in the church library! Because I'm not busy enough already. Lol. We've been trying to drive more traffic into the church library, and our church is chock-full of homeschool families and stay-at-home-moms with young kids. Storytime is right up my alley, and I honestly do it once a week already with my preschool classes at school, so I'm just reusing what I've already done. It's not a ton of prep work for me. We only started "advertising" for this event last Saturday, so I was impressed when 7 families showed up! My cousin Esther is reading a chapter book to the older kids. She had 13 kids and I had 8. A lot of people on facebook said they couldn't make it this week, but plan to come next week, so we could really have a library full! I love it so much, and am so happy to see it being used.
Thanks, Jenae, for taking pictures!
7. One pic and a bunch of memes (because I got on Pinterest to look up storytime ideas, and got sucked into the wormhole).

At basketball today. Only one more game . . . and then we move onto soccer. |

I laughed really hard at this one. 😂 |

We got a new fax machine at school that startled us all by making this noise on Tuesday. All of us millennials shuddered as we were overtaken by flashbacks. |

I have experienced this. Yet another reason to be a lackluster housekeeper. |
