The Saturday 7ish

1. Easter was especially meaningful this year, because Lena got baptized!

I am incredibly proud of her for choosing to do it. I didn't get baptized 'til I was 18, because I was so afraid of getting up in front of people. The fact that both of my girls did it when they were 12 blows my mind. In Lena's case, I can't say enough about anti-anxiety meds. I was nervous about starting her on them so young, but this year has shown how much she needed them, and how much richer her life is because of that little serotonin boost.

2. We spent a lovely Easter with Justin's side of the family, stuffing our faces, and playing cards. The weather was finally beautiful, so the kids played outside. And Lucy and Justin both joined in on a Wizard tournament, which is unheard of! Unfortunately, all 3 of us lost. Haha. But we had fun and tried our best, so that's what counts. 😁

3. Lena had a home game this week, so Justin went to that while I took Levi to his practice. As much as I hate sitting out in the cold, it kills me not to be there. She's been playing forward a lot and I'll be so sad if I miss her first goal! On Friday, her game was in Baldwin, and we all got to go since Levi didn't have practice. It was Baldwin's first game, and based on some of the comments I heard from the players ("What's a throw-in?") they haven't been playing for long, so our team dominated. Lena got to play a lot, and she loved winning. Haha. She also almost had a goal. I think she'll get one yet this year.

Celebratory Taco Bell!

4. Today was Levi's first game, and - surprise surprise - it was freezing cold! I'm getting my money's worth out of my fleece-lined leggings. He played goalie for the first time, and I hated it. Lol. Sooooo nerve wracking. He got scored on once, but also had a few saves, so it wasn't terrible. Apparently, I didn't take any pictures. 🤦 #momfail

5. I finished that ChatGPT book. It wasn't really a philosophical take on the subject. The author has already made up her mind that AI isn't going anywhere and we should make the most of it. But she gave some really practical tips that I'm excited to try. In general, my approach to AI is to use it as an assistant, not a creator. I use it a lot to polish things I've already written. But I try not to ask it to make me anything from scratch very often. Not because it can't, but because I'm afraid of getting lazy. If I don't flex my creativity muscles, I'll lose them. Look at this quote that kind of sets my teeth on edge . . . "American philosopher Gray Scott says . . . 'Robots will harvest, cook, and serve our food. They will work in our factories, drive our cars, and walk our dogs. Like it or not, the age of work is coming to an end.'"  Yikes. What is life without work? The constant pursuit of pleasure? Complete idleness? While those things certainly appeal to me, I recognize that they'd be very unhealthy for me personally and for culture as a whole. My dad always taught us that work is good. Adam and Eve worked in the garden before the fall, and Dad believes we'll have work to do in heaven. No robots allowed. Sorry, ChatGPT.

6. I really wanted to make it to 7 today, since I've been such a slacker lately, but I just can't do it. My head is killing me and my computer is dying, so I'm just going to wrap this up with a couple pics and memes.
Levi threw his sock, it landed on Stella's head, and she didn't even care. She sat like this for a solid 5 minutes.

100% Levi and Lucy
