The Saturday 7

One more week of February, people! We're almost through!

1. I can't really complain about February after this week. We had a rare edition of "false spring" that gave me the boost I need to make it through a few more weeks of winter. Temps in the 50s and 60s! I went days without wearing my coat! Levi and Lena spent hours riding their bikes and playing driveway basketball. It was glorious!

2. But I'm getting ahead of myself. A quick recap of the week I skipped . . . Lena had three away games, but I missed two of them because I had Development-related meetings. Levi had his Valentine's Day party on Tuesday. He got all creative with his box this year. The kid has a lot of big dreams, but gets frustrated with the execution of them. He very often expects me to figure it out for him, but I have zero engineering/mechanical ability, so he had to lower his expectations. Lol. It still ended up pretty cool. He drew the wolf on cardboard, I cut it out and helped him glue it to some shoeboxes, and he figured out how to make the mouth functional. He even hooked up a bluetooth speaker so it howled throughout his entire party. Lol.

We watched three of my nieces and nephews on Valentine's Day, but still managed to celebrate with our traditional shells n' cheese dinner.

Lena absolutely adores babies and was in her glories all day.

3. We had this entire week off for winter break. We're out of money after our December of misfortune, so we didn't do anything too fun, but I got a lot done! I wrote lists a mile long of things I wanted to accomplish . . . and finished a solid half of them! Lol. But I got some things done that I've been putting off for a long time - washing all our coats, my comforter, and the walls in our stairwell that Justin spilled beer on when he fell down the stairs five years ago. Lol. I also purged my jeans drawer, forcing myself to be realistic about what I'll ever actually fit in again.

4. On Tuesday, we met up with some cousins for bowling.

5. On Wednesday, Levi and I got our hair cut.

Not one person in my family commented on my hair. That evening I said to the kids, "You could've at least said, 'Nice haircut, Mom!'" Lena replied, "Well I didn't want to lie." 🤦 Justin didn't even notice until two days later. However, I spent the past two days at a women's conference at church and countless women commented on my haircut. Lol. Gotta love women!

6. I read three books over the past two weeks: Dreamers by Angela Elwell Hunt. I loved this take on Joseph's story when I first read it in high school, but didn't enjoy it quite as much this time around. I also read To Love a Lady by Gabrielle Meyer, and Girl Lost by Kate Angelo. Both were good, but not earth-shattering.

7. My girls are doing a week-long screen fast with their youth group, and they challenged me to join them, so I don't have a ton of memes this week. Lucky for you, I still have a few stockpiled from last week.
