The Saturday 5

1. This week was Spirit Week at school. Monday's theme was Farmers and Flannels because that's how we do in the sticks. Lol. That's the only day I got to participate in, since I only work on Mondays. I put my hair in two braids and looked like I was 12 years old. Other days included Pajama Day, Crazy Hair Day, Color Day, and Spirit Day. Apparently I only took pictures of Crazy Hair Day though. Making use of all the hair tinsel she got for her birthday. The brown beads on her scalp are supposed to blend in with her hair better, but her hair is so thin there's no where for it to hide. Haha. When I put tinsel in Lucy's hair you definitely don't see the beads. The girls looooove this stuff, but its quickly becoming the bane of my existence because it gets e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. It's like the new glitter. #herpesofcraftsupplies She didn't think the tinsel alone was crazy enough, so she styled it crazy as well.  I loved  Spirit Week in high school and always wen...

13 Freezer Meals

Image
For the first time in my 16.5 years of cooking, I decided to make a bunch of freezer meals. Posts like these are a dime a dozen, but I figured I'd share my process/recipes for my future self as much as anyone. At least I know I like all these recipes.  I spread out my cooking over 2 days because I'm old, fat, and busy. It took me 1.5 hours to make 8 meals the first day, and about an hour to finish the last 5 the second day. I had leftover ground beef, but it had already been sitting in my fridge for a couple days, so I browned it and froze it plain. I can always warm it up with some Manwich or taco seasoning in the future.  I'm not a food blogger, so please forgive my terrible photography. The last batch ready to go in the freezer. Supplies Freezer bags Sharpie (to label the bags with meal name and instructions) Disposable casserole pans (I got the kind with the flat cardboard lid so I could stack them in the freezer) A ton of groceries The Recipes Some of these are from bl...

1. Lena turned 9 on Sunday. It was not a very exciting birthday, but we'd done lots of celebrating leading up to the actual day. She got the traditional breakfast in bed, we went to church, she chose lunch (Taco Bell), home to open presents, played a couple games, and that was about it!  I found this selfie on my phone. Haha. Cutie.  2. Monday was Justin's 37th birthday. He celebrated by . . . going to work! Lucky him. We did get take-out for dinner, and we had cake and ice cream. I feel like 37 is officially "late 30s." I'm only 36, and clinging to "mid 30s." It doesn't matter how old he gets, he's still a stone cold fox. He's been working out and getting all fit. Part of me feels bad for not keeping up with him, the other part of me likes sugar too much to care. Lena made him this sweet gift for his big day: 3. I read my first "Christian Living" book of the year. I got a bunch for Christmas, and my intent is always to be better ab...

Another exciting week in the books! 1. I decided to give Wordle a try. It's all over my facebook feed lately, and you know I have FOMO. Plus, word games are kind of my forte. I still don't really get the hype . . . The thing that trips me up is that you only get to play once a day. What kind of game is that? If I can't binge, I'm not interested.  2. I've fallen for a few facebook ads lately that had me shelling out money in an attempt to beautify myself. I tried two of them out last Saturday. I can't remember what this one is called. Basically, it's a blackhead treatment. You roll this green goo on your face with something that looks like deodorant, and it's supposed to pull all the blackheads out of your skin, leaving it glowing and blemish free. While I was waiting for the magic to happen, I played Words with Friends on my phone, and this ad popped up: STOP STALKING ME, PHONE! Anyway, my skin looked nothing like the people in that ad. Zero blackheads p...
