The Saturday 7

1. Lucy has been so clingy the past few days. She just wants to be held all the time. She has a runny nose and a little bit of a a cough, so I figured she just wasn't feeling well. This morning, I woke up with the cold. I understand now how miserable she is. :-(

2. I got all domestic this week and borrowed Kelly's food processor again to puree some veggies. I did cauliflower and sweet potatoes this time. Then I made homemade mac n' cheese with the cauliflower puree (recipe from Deceptively Delicious).  It was delicious and Lucy gobbled it right up! Woohoo for veggies!

3. Our house was 64* when I got up this morning. I said I wouldn't turn on the heat til October, but I really don't want to do it the first day! I have to hold out longer than that! It's supposed to be 70* again next week. Maybe I can make it 'til November?

4. I reorganized Lucy's clothes this week. I've started putting away most of her 6-12 month stuff. It is obscene how much she has. I've already filled one huge bin and one smaller bin and there's more to be put away! All I can say is we better have another girl someday to get extra use out of all those clothes!

5. One day this week, Lyla was limping around weirdly. I asked her what was wrong and she said, "There's something in my hiney. I think it's a woodchip!" Lol. I laughed so hard. What a weirdo.

6. What happened to Saturday morning cartoons? It's 9:30 a.m. CBS and NBC both have news programs on. ABC has played 2 nature shows back to back. Where are Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann? Ahh, the good ole days.

7. I've really been having baby fever lately. I miss those sweet days of snuggling, the wonder of a baby's newness. I even really miss breastfeeding! But I've been reminding myself that it won't be the same the second time around. I won't be able to sleep every time the baby sleeps because I'll have a toddler too! And pregnancy isn't going to be as fun the second time around because I'll be chasing Lucy around instead of sitting on the couch eating cookies like I did when I was pregnant with her. I saw a ginormously pregnant lady trying to wrestle a toddler into his carseat the other day and thought, "Ohh snap. That's what it's going to be like."  Haha. So I think we're going to wait a little longer. Sorry to disappoint you, Grandma. ;-)

  1. How far apart to space your kids is HIGHLY personal, so don't let anyone or even your baby fever pressure you to go for #2 until you're ready. I let my baby fever get the best of me, and it was SO hard. I know I'll love it when my kiddos are just a little bit older, but yikes. #3 (if there will be a #3) is not allowed to make an arrival until after Becca's 3rd b-day. I don't care if I'm pregnant by then, but I want Hannah and Becca to be old enough to go off and play by themselves so I can just do the newborn thing. And hopefully I won't be changing Becca's diapers while I'm pregnant, because lifting Hannah onto that changing table or sitting on the floor to change her was just torture at the end, haha.

I can't believe you can handle your house that cold! Brrr, I turned on the heat as soon as it got to 68*, haha.

  2. Abby's been super clingy the last few days too. If I set her down she just cries and cries and wants to be held. :( She is working on a molar though, so maybe that's part of the issue...

Rocky broke down and turned the heat on a week or so ago. But we have it set to warm to 63 during the week (I don't mind wearing sweatshirts around the house!) and 65 at night and on weekends. :)

I know Rocky wants another little one soon. I'd like to wait 'till at least after Christmas to start trying (want to at least get back to my pre-preggo weight! :)

  3. Ah, baby fever -- I haven't had it so far;) I think a big part of the reason is that I know it would be way, way different than the first time -- when I'm with my friends' babies I think "Aw, I remember when Brooklyn was this tiny" but I never think "I want to do that again!" It wouldn't be the same -- no going back to bed until 11, no sitting on the couch watching marathons of my favorite shows on Netflix while she naps in my arms for 3 hours, no sitting and letting her nurse straight through those naps, etc.
It would all be so different.
Granted my lack of baby fever isn't just for that reason -- it's also because we really think we won't have another, so you know:)

Brooklyn was clingy yesterday -- doesn't happen much anymore, and it is definitely challenging!:)

  4. P.S. I was a nanny for Ellis (who turned 2 while I was pregnant) during my pregnancy, so I got a small taste of what it would be like. I napped when she napped for sure during that first trimester!
And I once had to climb up the tube slide in the McDonald's playplace to get her down because she was scared...twice...when I was 6 months pregnant. That is the reality of pregnancy with a toddler already in your family:)
