The Saturday 7

1. Mrs. Miller had a little setback with her knee, so I ended up working 4 days this week. I was able to finish up all the projects I wanted to do in the library and by Thursday I had time to just sit and read some new books that need to be pre-screened. It's good for my depression to stay busy. I needed it this week. The weather is really getting to me.  Every Monday I tell myself, "This will be the last really cold recess duty. It'll be nicer next week." #lies 2. I just read that for the month of March we only had 29% of possible sunshine. I might need to invest in a sun lamp. It's like the last month of pregnancy - you know it can't last forever and the end is in sight, but it feels like it will never be over.  So far, April has not lived up to my expectations . . . 3. Despite my grand intentions of having monthly date night, we never made it happen in March - mostly because of the babysitter situation. Our babysitters are a little burned out after watching...

I haven't felt like blogging lately. Probably another sign I need to stop decreasing my meds. Blech. I'll regret it if I skip two weeks in a row, though, so let's see what I can muster up . . . (You're excited to read on now, aren't you?!) 1. I finished my winter semester of college classes this week. I had a 100% in all three of my classes for the majority of the semester because all of the assignments were subjective - essays, discussion board responses, etc. Once I had to answer objective questions with a clear right or wrong answer on the final exam, my grades slipped a little. It's pretty tragic . . . I have a couple weeks off before my final semester begins. I'm not really looking forward to the last few classes I have to take - mainly math and early childhood development. But I just have to pass, right? C's get degrees! 2. I went back to my regular schedule of only working on Mondays this week. I miss parts of the job, but it was nice to have so m...

1. Tomorrow marks one month since I reduced my depression meds from 150 mg a day to 100 mg. I didn't notice any difference when I dropped from 200 to 150 a couple months ago, and I didn't originally notice anything with the next 50 mg either . . . until this week. I've definitely been more irritable than usual, and I've been plagued with restlessness. I am constantly bored, but nothing entertains me. I don't want to watch tv, I don't want to read, I don't want to play the same dumb games on my phone over and over, I don't want to scroll through facebook. I just want to eat and sleep. I actually got out some puzzles this week to try and still my restlessness. And I took on the huge project of cleaning/organizing the very deep/awkward closet under the stairs. But as soon as I'm done, I'm bored again. I'm really hoping it's not because of the meds. I want to be done with them! I was going to drop to 50 mg this week, but I think I'll hold...

1. We started this week by celebrating Levi's 6th birthday. On Sunday after church we had family over for pizza, cake, and presents.  Remember how I was busy last week so I asked Justin to take Levi to pick out a cake? Apparently Levi wanted an oreo cake, but not a round one, and he wanted his name on it. So this was the compromise. 😂 Feeling a little nervous/shy about everyone singing to him.  Traditional morning birthday display. The next morning, on his birthday, he actually slept in his bed all night and was still asleep when I got up to get ready, so he got to have breakfast in bed! I think that's a first for him.  Birthday crown and cookie at school Finally, time to unwrap presents! One of his favorite presents was this one: a train that spits out dominoes as it drives. The best part? I got it at Once Upon's 90% off sale months ago for 45 cents! Lol Dinner of his choice: McDonald's. #dreambig Still my baby when he's sleeping. 😍😭 2. I had my second 4-day wor...

1. We had winter break on Monday and Tuesday, so I only worked 2 days this week. My neck appreciated the reprieve, but I was happy to be back at it on Wednesday. The day flies by and I adore being surrounded by books all day . . . even if my own reading life has taken a hit because I'm a responsible adult with a job now! Anyway, despite two days off of school, I still feel like this week was crazy.  2. On Monday, after sleeping in and lounging around for a while (as is required on winter break), the kids and I went up to Luke and Esther's house to celebrate Presidents' Day with them. Truly. Esther is the only person I know who actually celebrates Presidents' Day. Lol. [#nerd] We actually just went to visit because Esther recently had knee surgery and has been cooped up at home. My kids love her kids and they had a blast together.  3. On Tuesday, we had some friends over. Kelly and I talked for four hours while the girls entertained each other, and Levi bounced around be...

1. While we were in Florida, we played the license plate game every time we went to a different beach or store or even the library. I couldn't believe how many different states we found. By the end of the week, we had 41 states and 2 Canadian provinces! The only ones we didn't see were Hawaii, Montana, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, Louisiana, and Mississippi. We even spotted one from Alaska! That's a long drive! The kids loved it and it kept them entertained anytime we were in the car! 2. My last observation from Florida is that I couldn't believe the ostentatious displays of wealth. I kept thinking those beach houses must cost an unfathomable amount of money. It's hard not to be jealous sometimes - to look at all these rich old boomers and play the "poor Millenial" card. We'll probably never be able to afford to retire in some extravagant Florida beach house. But then I thought of our Compassion Child who lives in a tiny village in Bu...
